Has some usesul information on the greyhound breed. It is more about how to care for dogs in general and is very wordy (maybe that's the "dummy" part). If you've ever successfully owned a dog, this is a common sense book and doesn't offer anything you don't already know about dogs. Based on all the MUSTS for owning a Greyhound, I would have liked this book to focus more on describing the anatomy and physiology of the greyhound and wider range of personalities, as not all greyhounds are couch potatoes and quiet- some actually bark like guard dogs at strangers approaching home, growl at vets, and are very trainable even with high prey drive. It does do a good job on emphasizing the dog's innate drives. I think I would have saved my money because many organizational websites offer more specific and concise information that is accurate for greyhound adoption and ownership. In all, I don't discourage reading the book, just know that it is wordy and could have offered more greyhound-focused information in one-forth the time and text. This book is highly recommended by the greyhound community, but if you skip it and read other literature from approved resources, you will be just as prepared and even come out more knowledgeable just the same.
